For a while I kept a bowl filled with scraps of paper on which I had written words I found beautiful/interesting/resonant … and thought of it as my word salad, though given the use of that term in regard to the jumbled utterances of a certain cerebrally compromised politician the phrase has lost its charm). It was mislaid during an involuntary studio move.
But now I’m thinking a bowl filled of questions would be more interesting…
Nice idea! I like that. More of a ‘lucky dip’ than returning to them in a notebook. (For scrappy ideas like that I use a hardback A5 notebook that lives with me.)
Thanks Monica! I think those are quite important ones but wasn't sure if people would find them a bit too weird or pretentious, so I'm glad they resonated with you!
It's the kind of list of questions you definitely cannot chat about with just anyone. But that's the whole point, right? You can find out faster who resonates with such conversations and whose stare remains blank. 😉
These are such excellent questions! I'm going to writing soon about walking with friends, and I'll point people your way if they need meaningful conversation starters.
Excellent excellent post! I’m absolutely going to steal a few of these for the next time hostel talk invariably lands at “where are you from / where are you going next”-type monotony.

What an interesting list! Good one to print and have handy.
I loved 82. comprised in your 'beauty' series (81-84). 😊 Also 87. is so fun!

These are all great, 4 thru 8 particularly strong

Thank you Dru, much appreciated! 🙏
Excellent selection of questions, some of these might make good prompts for creative writing sessions!
Ooh, nice idea. I'd be interesting to hear how you get on if you use any. Glad you liked them!

Thanks Alex! Have fun with them :-)
